ChitCar exists because sharing a long ride should not feel like fighting an airport app designed for five-minute hops across town.
The problem we care about
Traditional carpool tools stack busy feeds, weak identity, and money conversations that spill into chat after you are already halfway home. Hosts get ghosted. Passengers get last-minute cancellations. Nobody wants to chase ₹800 in group messages at midnight.
We are building the opposite: corridor-aware search, booking that is intentional, profiles you can actually evaluate, and a simple cash ledger that tracks what was agreed and what was settled.
What we believe
- Free to start. Search and basic trips stay open. Premium is for people who want more polish — not a gate.
- Cash is honest. Many intercity riders still prefer cash at the vehicle. We help both sides stay clear about amounts without forcing a payment rail they do not want.
- API-first, app-native later. The product core ships as a reliable API so the web app and future native clients share one source of truth.
Where we are
Auth, profiles, freemium, and avatar storage are live on the backend. Search, bookings, and the cash ledger are the next domain slices. What you see in the app today is the shell where those trips will land.
